At Steven Gerrard Academy we pride ourselves on our history of success. We have built a strong football programme which enables players to develop and reach their potential.
Our UEFA-qualified and experienced coaches lead stimulating training sessions and are responsible for various teams. Training is designed to improve personal fitness, tactical and technical awareness, team and individual performance. We use a sport science approach to introduce innovative and up-to-date methods and to monitor player performance.

At SGA, training is where the major developments in your game happen. Whether that is through tactical and technical sessions on the pitch, or developing physically in the gym, our coaches will look to stretch and challenge you to improve throughout your time with us. You will have 3 football sessions and at least 1 gym session per week.

As part of your football programme, you will take part in weekly competitive fixtures. Higher level squads will have the opportunity to play in the FA Youth Cup against professional youth academies, compete in the National Football Youth League against professional scholar sides such as Leeds United and Newcastle United and be invited to play invitation only friendlies against clubs we have strong links with such as Aston Villa FC and Wigan FC . Our other squads will be entered into local college leagues and cup competitions with the aim of developing players as much as possible and potentially moving up into the higher level squads.

At SGA, we are Obsessed to be the best and this is particularly important when it comes to employing our staff. Our coaches are UEFA qualified with playing experience at professional clubs and/or coaching experience at professional academies. All coaches share the same goal at SGA – to develop players to be the best they possibly can be with the aim of pushing them into as far as they can possibly go in football, whether that is professional, semi-professional or into a higher level grassroots club.

Sport Science

At Steven Gerrard Academy, we use the latest technology and sport science principles to develop player performance and coaching.

Our performance analysis team use industry standard analysis software to provide video and statistical feedback to our players and coaches, both great tools for individual and team development. The use of GPS systems allows us to track players’ physical performance , monitor training load and measure performance metrics, such as distance covered, top speed and energy expenditure.

To monitor fitness levels before, during and after the season, our players complete regular fitness testing and body compositing testing, which helps us to tailor a programme for each individual player. We provide advice on nutrition and information to all our players to ensure they are fuelled correctly for training and matches, with gym programmes and food plans in place to help them reach their physical goals.

We have a number of sites across the UK & Ireland, including Liverpool, Chester, Derry and Larne. All students across these sites have access to top level facilities consisting of 4G football pitches and gym facilities as well as the best football equipment for training sessions. In addition to our own facilities, we have gained valuable links with local universities who allow us access onto their multi-million pound sports facilities and use of equipment.
